Football adds Maryland transfer Avery Graham

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook head football coach Chuck Priore has announced that rising junior Avery Graham (Clarksburg, Md.) has signed a grant-in-aid to play for the Seawolves beginning this fall. A transfer from the University of Maryland, Graham will have two years of eligibility left.
"We're really excited to have a player with Avery's skill level and athleticism," Priore said. "Avery should fill an immediate need at corner."
The 5-10, 195-lb Graham played in six games last season for the Terrapins, finishing with five tackles. He also added 56 kick return yards. As a redshirt freshman in 2010, he played in seven games, making 12 tackles and totaling 38 kick return yards.
A 2009 graduate of Clarksburg High School, Graham ranked among the nation's best running backs and defensive backs, earning a No. 69 by Rivals.com among all cornerbacks. As a senior, he posted 84 tackles, three sacks and four interceptions, including one for a touchdown. Graham's talents also extended to the track as he won state titles in the 55 and 100-meter run as well as the shot put.
