Stony Brook, N.Y. – Jamie Williams, a two-star recruit by Rivals and ESPN.com, has accepted a grant-in-aid offer to play football for Stony Brook University, head coach Chuck Priore announced on Monday.
Williams, who will play defense for the Seawolves, was all over the field as a senior at Hamilton West High School. In addition to seven pass breakups and two interceptions, Williams had 1,376 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. The MVP of the 52nd annual Steinert-Hamilton Thanksgiving War, Williams also accounted for touchdowns on an 85-yard kick return and a 55-yard punt return.
“We’re excited to add a player with Jamie’s caliber of athleticism and competitiveness to our program,” Priore said.
A first team All-Area defensive selection, Williams capped off his senior season with a spot on the Chesapeake Bowl north team, comprised of the best players from New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Williams’ uncle, Rubin Carter, played 11 seasons in the NFL for the Denver Broncos, and his cousin, Andre Carter, is a defensive end for the Washington Redskins.
