Beth O’Boyle names Doneth as Director of Basketball Operations

Stony Brook, N.Y. – Stony Brook University head women’s basketball coach Beth O’Boyle completed her first staff SBU staff on Tuesday as she announced the hiring of Andrea Doneth as Director of Basketball Operations. Doneth was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team at St. Bonaventure and served as captain as a senior.
"We are excited about the addition of Andrea to our staff," said Chancellor. " She excelled as a student-athlete at St. Bonaventure and her knowledge of the game, ability to communicate and leadership qualities will make her invaluable to our program."

The addition of Doneth completes O’Boyle’s first staff at Stony Brook. As Director of Basketball Operations, Doneth will handle all day-to-day activities surrounding the basketball program.

Doneth helped the Bonnies to 23 wins in each of her last two seasons, which resulted in consecutive appearances in the WNIT including the school's first-ever postseason berth in 2009. She was part of a senior class with the most wins (88) in school history.

Named to the 2010 CoSida/ESPN the Magazine District I second team, Doneth excelled off the court as well as she earned a spot on the Dean’s list and Atlantic-10 Commissioner’s Honor roll in each of her four years. As a senior, St. Bonaventure University administrators and professors selected her as the female recipient of the Ideal St. Bonaventure Student, awarded to one student that exemplifies the spirit, values and of St. Bonaventure through community service and academic excellence.

Doneth also was the recipient of the St. Bonaventure Merit Award, which is given to one female student-athlete for outstanding academic and athletic achievements, while being a good representative of the University. She was also a member of SAAC and the SMART program at St. Bonaventure, visiting local elementary classrooms with teammates to read to students and discuss the importance of education.

Inducted to St. Bonaventure’s Chapter of Kappa Tau Alpha, the National Journalism Honor Society, which recognizes the top 10 percent of the class, Doneth was also selected by the School of Journalism’s Dean & Professors as Dr. Mary Hamilton Woman of Promise, which recognizes one female journalism student whose achievements during her undergraduate years point to success in her future.

Doneth graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Bonaventure in 2010 with a degree in Journalism/Mass Communications.
