Men's lacrosse ranked in top 10 in national polls

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's lacrosse team is ranked fifth in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches Poll and eighth in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, it was announced on Monday.
Stony Brook, which was not ranked during the preseason last year, also enters 2011 ranked fourth by Lacrosse Magazine. The publication has anointed senior Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, British Columbia) the Division I Preseason Player of the Year.
The Seawolves will open the season against Virginia (#1 USILA, #2 Nike/IL) on February 26 at 12 p.m. at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. #8/7 Cornell and #17/- Delaware also will visit LaValle Stadium during non-conference play.
94 percent of Stony Brook's goal scorers return from a team that went 13-4 last season, won the America East Championship and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
