Tuiloma Named Big South Freshman of the Week

Freshman Sets Career-High In Tackles at UMass

Charlotte, N.C. - For the third week in a row a Stony Brook football player was included in the weekly awards handed out by the Big South Conference. This week freshman Kenny Tuiloma (Long Beach, Calif.) was named the league's Freshman of the Week. It is the first Freshman of the Week honor this season for the Seawolves.

After playing as a reserve in the first three games of the season, Tuiloma was pressed into service as a starter for the first time in his career at Massachusetts this past Saturday when the Seawolves' normal starter was forced to miss the game due to an injury. The freshman from California did not miss a beat, responding with a career-high 12 tackles, moving him to 17 for the season which ties him for fourth overall on the squad. He also came up with his first career interception, snatching a Minuteman pass and returning it 27 yards to the UMass 15-yard line to set up Stony Brook's second touchdown of the game.
