NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals Visit LaValle Stadium for Second Time

Stony Brook, N.Y. - For the second time in five years Stony Brook University has been selected as one of the hosts for the NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse quarterfinals, the NCAA has announced. Stony Brook will host two North Region quarterfinal games on Sunday, May 23, 2010, with the two winners advancing to the NCAA Championships in Baltimore, Maryland.
"We are thrilled to serve as a host of the 2010 quarterfinals at one of the premier lacrosse venues in the nation," said Director of Athletics Jim Fiore. "Our athletic program at Stony Brook continues to grow and mature at a rapid pace and our staff is excited to produce another first class championship event. This is a wonderful honor and opportunity to showcase our outstanding university on a national stage while bringing the excitement of championship lacrosse to the Suffolk County community and Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium."
This will be the second time that Stony Brook has hosted the NCAA men's lacrosse quarterfinals. A sold-out crowd of 8,335, a LaValle Stadium record attendance for any sporting event, attended the previous quarterfinals held at Stony Brook in 2006. Tickets for the event will go on sale on the Stony Brook Athletics website, www.goseawolves.org, at a later date.
