Posts fifth fastest time in the country
Swarthmore, Pa. - In an attempt to improve her chances of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, sophomore Lucy Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) competed in the 1,500-meter at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday night. Not only did she win the race, she also posted the fifth fastest time in the country and second fastest in the East Region. Her time of 4.13.72 smashed her previous school record time by nearly eight seconds.
Van Dalen, along with her sister Holly Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) and fellow sophomore Carolina Cortes (Woodmere, N.Y.), will now move onto the NCAA Regionals on May 29th and 30th in Greensboro, N.C.
