Stony Brook announces change in volleyball leadership

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University Head Volleyball Coach Deb DesLauriers has been relieved of her duties effective immediately, Director of Athletics Jim Fiore announced Thursday.  Stony Brook will conduct a national search for DesLauriers’ successor.
“At this time, it is in the best interest of Stony Brook volleyball that we make a change in leadership,” Fiore said. “I want to thank Coach DesLauriers for her contributions to the program over the last 13 years and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. We are committed to building our volleyball program into an annual contender for the America East Championship and will immediately begin to find the best candidate possible to lead us towards our goal.”
DesLauriers recently completed her 13th season as Stony Brook’s head coach, leading the Seawolves to an 11-14 overall record and 6-6 finish in America East, which left the team short of a bid into the America East Championship. In her 13 years, DesLauriers went 190-200 (.487) overall and 76-72 (.514) in conference. Although she led the Seawolves to the America East Championship final four times in her 13 seasons, the team has never won the title and has missed the tournament altogether in three of the last five seasons.
