VOTE NOW AS AMERICA EAST MOMENT OF THE YEAR...STONY BROOK SHOCKS THE WORLD!


Cambridge, Mass. - The America East Conference unveiled its 2011-12 Moment of the Year nominees on Wednesday, including Stony Brook baseball's run to the College World Series and Lucy Van Dalen's National Championship in the indoor mile. Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite moment until balloting closes on Aug. 6.
Fans can vote by "liking" the video of their favorite moment in the video section of the conference's official Facebook page. To vote, fans must already be a fan of the America East page. To become a fan, go to the America East Facebook page and click "like" at the top of the page.
Voting will run through Monday, Aug. 6. The video with the most "likes" will be named the 2011-12 America East Moment of the Year and will be announced on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
The Stony Brook baseball team shocked the world by advancing through the Coral Gables Regional and the Baton Rouge Super Regional to reach the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. The Seawolves finished the year with a program-record 52 wins and reached as high as No. 7 in the national polls.
Van Dalen became Stony Brook's first Division I National Champion on Mar. 10 when she placed first in the indoor mile (4:39.76) at the NCAA Indoor Track Championships in Nampa, Idaho. The 2011-12 America East Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Van Dalen (Wanganui, New Zealand) is set to compete in the 1,500 at the London Olympics on Aug. 6.
