Stony Brook Basketball to play Rider in ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon (WUSB)

Bristol, Conn. - The Stony Brook men's basketball team will participate in the fifth annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 6 a.m., when the Seawolves play at Rider live on ESPN, ESPN3 and of course WUSB.This will be Stony Brook's second appearance in the marathon and in the 6 a.m. slot. On Nov. 16, 2010, Stony Brook defeated Monmouth on the road, 51-49. That game was Stony Brook's first-ever appearance on the main ESPN network.
Stony Brook Basketball has become accustomed to appearing on the ESPN Family of Networks. Five of its school-record 21 television broadcasts in 2011-12 were on either ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or ESPN3. In 2010-11, Stony Brook had four broadcasts on the ESPN Family of Networks.
In addition, recently graduated Seawolves center Dallis Joyner made ESPN all by himself; his game-winning tip-in vs. Albany on March 4 was the No. 1 play of the week on ESPN's SportsCenter.
Stony Brook, under eighth-year head coach Steve Pikiell, will return nine letterwinners, including two starters, from last season's team that captured the America East regular season championship and advanced to the NIT for the second time in three seasons. The Seawolves won 22 games to match a program Div. I record and went a perfect 13-0 at Pritchard Gymnasium.

The full 2012-13 non-conference schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
