ALBANY - Gerardo Suero burst onto the scene this past season at the University at Albany.
Suero, a junior college transfer, finished seventh in the nation in scoring (21.5 ppg) in 2011-12. It seemed like he would only get better in his second season for the Great Danes.
That will not happen.
Suero confirmed on twitter, on Friday, his 23rd birthday, that he will be leaving the program.
Suero set the program record for points in a single-season, finishing with 689 points and was also named a first team All-America East conference selection.
The Great Danes finished 19-15, losing to Stony Brook in the America East semifinals.
