Presser Tuesday....Nagle and Spallina will lead Stony Brook Men's and Women's Lacrosse

Colgate coach Jim Nagle, who starred at Ward Melville's High School in the 1980s, will be named the men's lacrosse coach at Stony Brook University, a person familiar with the hiring process said Sunday. Nagle is to be formally announced at a press conference Tuesday on campus. Recently hired women's coach Joe Spallina will also be introduced.

Nagle was 86-64 in 10 seasons at Colgate, including 11-5 in 2011 for the 12th-ranked Raiders. In 2008, he guided the Raiders to the Patriot League championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Nagle started his coaching career as an assistant at his alma mater, Loyola College in Baltimore. He was an All-County selection in high school and played on Ward Melville's 1988 undefeated (24-0) state championship team.

Nagle replaces Rick Sowell, who left the Seawolves to become the head coach at Navy.
