New Stony Brook women's lacrosse head coach Joe Spallina was named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II National Coach of the Year, the organization announced over the weekend. Spallina led Adelphi to its third consecutive national championship with a perfect 20-0 season.
This is Spallina's third consecutive IWLCA Coach of the Year honor to coincide with leading the Panthers to three straight national championships. He ended his career with Adelphi with a record of 73-2. His Adelphi team in 2011 was the wire-to-wire No. 1 team in the nation, according to the IWLCA Coaches Poll.
