Running Backs shine during Football's spring game



Stony Brook, N.Y. -

Redshirt freshman Davon Lawrence (Central Islip, N.Y.) rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns to lead the offense to a 51-15 win over the defense in Stony Brook's spring football game on Sunday. Points were tallied on a modified scoring system.

Lawrence scored on touchdown runs of 74 and 28 yards. Senior Brock Jackolski (Shirley, N.Y.) and junior Miguel Maysonet (Riverhead, N.Y.) also scored on rushing touchdowns.

Senior Michael Coulter (Yorba Linda, Calif.) was 10 of 13 for 152 yards and a touchdown. He found sophomore Chris McMillan (New York, N.Y.) for an 80-yard strike on the first play of a drive. Jackolski caught four balls for 34 yards and senior Matt Brevi (Tampa, Fla.) had three catches for 58 yards.

Junior Ivan May (El Cajon, Calif.) recorded a defensive touchdown, intercepting junior Kyle Essington (Chino Hills, Calif.) for a 36-yard score. Junior Rich Vitale (Higganum, Conn.) also had an interception and made six tackles.

Sophomore Alex Probasco (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) blocked a 35-yard field goal.

After the game, head coach Chuck Priore handed out the 2010 Big South Championship rings.

The 2011 season gets underway on Saturday, September 3 when the Seawolves travel to face the University of Texas at El Paso in just their second game against a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) school.
