Stony Brook announces 2011 Football recruiting class

2011 Stony Brook Recruiting Class

Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Eight talented student-athletes have signed national letters of intent to play football for two-time defending Big South Conference champion Stony Brook, head coach Chuck Priore announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Kevin Norrell (Los Angeles, Calif.), a Washington State transfer, also will join the incoming class, as he has accepted a grant-in-aid to play for the Seawolves.
The incoming class already includes eight junior college standouts, sophomore Masengo Kabongo (Stratford, Conn.), a University of Maryland transfer, and one prep school student-athlete (Mike Lisi), who were all added to the roster in December.
The class is made up of Dante Allen (Huntington Station, N.Y.), Naim Cheeseboro (King of Prussia, Pa.), Jerry Hubshman (Dunmore, Pa.), Karim Mohamed (Inwood, N.Y.), Louis Murray (Inglewood, Calif.) Victor Ochi (Valley Stream, N.Y.), Julian Quintin (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Dimitry Russ (Deer Park, N.Y.). Lyle Negron (Bakersfield, Calif.) joins Norrell in accepting a grant-in-aid offer.
"I think this entire class has a lot of balance to it," Priore said. "We added 10 mid-year student-athletes who will help bolster our roster. Getting some of these guys in for spring practice is critical to the success of our program. We feel we've brought in some guys who will have an immediate impact while building depth."
Stony Brook returns 17 starters (8 offensive, 9 defensive) on a team that went 5-1 in the conference for a second straight season. With just eight seniors graduating and a wealth of underclassmen that gained experience brought on by injury, Priore and the Seawolves are primed to stay atop the Big South for years to come.
