CENTRAL ISLIP'S HARRIS HEADED TO WHITE SOX

(Central Islip, N.Y., June 13, 2008) – Long Island Ducks team officials today announced that outfielder Estee Harris has had his contract purchased by the Chicago White Sox. The 23-year-old will report to Winston-Salem of the Carolina League, a Chicago Single-A affiliate.

“We’re excited for Estee,” says Ducks principal owner Frank Boulton. “He has made strides on the field and been a credit to our team and community. We wish him the best of luck and continued success.”

Harris is in the midst of a career year, hitting .328 with six home runs, nine doubles and 30 RBI in 35 games, while his .578 slugging percentage ranks fifth in the Atlantic League. He set career highs in 2007 with 11 homers and 45 RBI, batting .246 between the Road Warriors and Ducks in his first year in the league. The Central Islip High School standout was a second round draft pick of the New York Yankees in 2003 and spent four years in the Yankees farm system before signing with Long Island last season.

The Long Island Ducks play their home games at Citibank Park and are in their ninth season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. For further information, visit http://www.liducks.com/, or call (631) 940-3825.
